Best Time to Visit Singapore: Weather, Monsoons and Festivals

Singapore is hot all year, at roughly 24°C to 34°C. Temperature barely changes through the year, so the best time to visit depends on rain, crowds and festivals.

By Jeremy Jeevan, STB-licensed tourist guide · Checked September 2026 against NEA, NCCS, MOM and LTA

At a glance

Wettest

December

Climatologically the wettest month of the year (NEA).

Driest

February, and June to September

The drier months of the year (NCCS).

Hottest

April and May

April is the second warmest month (NEA), and February to May has the most warm days (NCCS).

The Year in Four Seasons

Two monsoons, with calmer inter-monsoon months between them.

December to March

Northeast Monsoon

Wet in December and January. Occasional monsoon surges bring cooler, windy days of steady rain (NEA).

April to May

Inter-monsoon

Hot, with afternoon thunderstorms and a lot of lightning (NEA).

June to September

Southwest Monsoon

Among the drier months of the year (NCCS).

October to November

Inter-monsoon

Afternoon thunderstorms return, and November is one of the wet months (NCCS).

Rain here usually comes as a heavy afternoon storm. Do outdoor sights in the morning, keep the afternoon for museums and anything air-conditioned, and go back out once it passes. Carry a small umbrella every day, for both rain and sun.

Festivals and Events to Plan Around

The big festivals follow lunar and religious calendars, so they move every year.

Public holidays from MOM. Grand Prix dates from LTA. Checked September 2026.

Worth knowing: Grand Prix week is the most expensive week to stay

Hotel prices climb sharply over race weekend, and rooms near Marina Bay go first. If you are coming for the race, book as early as you can. If you are not, avoid these dates altogether. Roads around Marina Centre and the Padang also close from 12.01am on 7 October to 5.30am on 13 October 2026, and some buses skip stops from 6 to 12 October (LTA).

The Verdict: Any Month Works if You Plan Around Afternoon Rain

You can visit Singapore in any month.

The main downside is the heat, which does not change much through the year. If you struggle with humidity, do outdoor sightseeing in the morning and evening.

On a short trip, pick your dates for flights and price, then check the festival table so you do not land in Grand Prix week by accident and pay race prices for a hotel. Come for Chinese New Year or Deepavali if you want the city at its most festive. Photographers who want more dry days should aim for the drier months.

Choose dates that suit your flights and plans, then plan each day around the afternoon rain.
